MoneyWorld sponsors bowl-a-thon
Century 21 MoneyWorld recently sponsored a bowl-a-thon to benefit the Las Vegas-based American Wheelchair Veterans Association.
Dozens of MoneyWorld representatives, their families and friends raised $1,050 at the event, which was held last month at The Orleans.
"Every penny of that goes to (the association), which among other things, offers free accommodations to wheelchair-bound people and their families visiting Las Vegas for up to a week," Andy Hrycyszyn, chairman of the realty firm's Community Action Committee, said.
"Those who visit the ... organization from around the country are provided blankets, towels, dishes -- everything they need."
The cottages can accommodate as many as three families at a time, Jason West, association spokesperson, said.
"If a member of a family has someone in a wheelchair -- whether it's the child or the parent -- they can call us and see if we have a date available, and if we do, it's theirs. They can come stay with us," West said.
The association also provides funding for wheelchair-related programs and holiday parties for disabled children.
In addition, the organization also sponsors athletic events such as the Los Angeles and Boston marathons.
"This is a local organization that we all can be proud of," Hrycyszyn said. "We had a great time bowling to support their outstanding efforts that help show off our city while helping those in wheelchairs in Las Vegas and around the country."
