Easter Bunny sighted at Rhodes Homes' Vistana

      Rhodes Homes plans to donate gift baskets full of holiday goodies as a surprise for the youngsters residing at The Shade Tree shelter, Clark County's only 24-hour emergency facility for women and children in crisis situations.
      "A program like this ... will involve the combined efforts and generosity of our home-building staff, the on-site sales agents, homeowners at Vistana (at Rhodes Ranch) and the many kind visitors who will donate gifts," Jim Rhodes, president of the home-building firm, said recently. "Most importantly, it will put smiles on the faces of children who might otherwise have no gifts for the Easter holiday. We feel that The Shade Tree is a very worthwhile organization, and we hope that this donation will inspire others to come forward with their help and support as well."
      Deborah De Souza, director of community resources for the shelter, said the children will be delighted with their gifts.
      "We have all kinds of needs throughout the year, but a gift like this is especially well-received as it comes during a special holiday and it is geared toward uplifting the spirits of the children at our shelter," she said. "We know that the kids will have a wonderful time opening their baskets, and we are pleased to see so many people taking part in this unique gesture of kindness."
      Donated items can be dropped off at Vistana, a condominium complex in the southwestern valley. Items such as candy, plush animals, baskets and other holiday-oriented gifts are welcome. The collection runs through April 20. The next day, the Easter Bunny, assisted by two sales agents, will deliver the baskets to the shelter.
      To visit, take Tropicana Avenue to Durango Drive, then go south to Warm Springs Road. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
      The gated complex offers nine floor plans, ranging from 670 to 1,413 square feet with as many as three bedrooms and two baths. Prices start from the mid-$60,000s.
      Interiors include fireplaces, upgraded appliances, breakfast bars, laundry rooms, walk-in closets and cultured-marble vanities in baths. Attached garages with direct-home access are optional.
      Shared amenities include a clubhouse with a pool, spa, sauna, tennis court, fitness center and billiards area. The development's landscape features palm trees, gazebos and barbecues.
