Mother, daughter team up at Sun City Anthem
Gail Clark and her mother, Lillian Tulane, moved to Del Webb's Sun City Anthem in April, finding the active lifestyle they sought.
"We really didn't even have a decision to make," Clark said. "We knew it was the right place to be. It's like living in a resort."
Since moving in, both have signed up for the Wellness Program, a partnership between St. Rose Dominican Hospital and Sun City Anthem to provide residents with fitness programs. Members complete a "Wellness Profile," where they can participate in a personalized program of nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes.
The profile is then entered into a computer system, which is also used by the machines in Anthem Center's fitness area. Members can have their workouts adjusted to fit their profiles with the computer's specifications.
"I also swim a mile a day four times a week and use the walking track in the fitness center," Clark said. "When you walk up there at night, you can see the whole city. It's a really beautiful view."
Tulane is also enjoying the community's lifestyle, according to Clark.
"Mom has met a lot of new friends here at Sun City Anthem," Clark said. "She goes up to the Anthem Center in the evenings and visits with people. It has helped her become more outgoing than she ever was."
The community is being developed within the Anthem master plan at the foothills of Black Mountain, and features a 75,000-square-foot recreation center as well as social and fitness opportunities. Additional amenities include The Revere golf club and Trumpets Restaurant.
Sun City Anthem offers 15 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the developer's Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $120,000s to more than $500,000.
To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, and follow the signs.
Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
