Festivities mark official opening of Vivaldi Park
Special to Real Estate
The recent grand opening of Vivaldi Park in Seven Hills drew hundreds of people who watched a softball game between rival high schools, enjoyed free refreshments, entered prize drawings, played games and listened to speeches by city of Henderson officials and representatives of Silver Canyon Partnership, developer of the planned community in Henderson. Colors were presented by members of Boy Scout Troop 309 of Henderson.
Dan Naef, vice president of community development for American Nevada Corp., which is affiliated with Silver Canyon Partnership, told guests that he is delighted with the public's response to Seven Hills.
"There are now more than 1,100 families settled into their homes in Seven Hills and several hundred more who have bought homes and are preparing to move in," Naef said. "With the continued growth of Henderson and the area surrounding Seven Hills, this has become one of the most desirable and convenient locations in which to live."
The highlight of the day's events was the benefit softball game, in which faculty members of Silverado High School played against their counterparts at Foothill High School. Before the game, Silver Canyon Partnership pledged to donate $50 for every base hit to a maximum of $2,000. The Foothill Falcons made 18 hits, and the Silverado Skyhawks connected 11 times. Although a total of 29 hits meant a combined donation of $1,450, the developer instead presented a $1,000 check to each school. Foothill will use the funds to buy uniforms and equipment for its performing arts program, while Silverado will buy software for its computer science program.
For the record, the Falcons beat the Skyhawks by a score of 9-2.
Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson said the city values its partnership with developers such as Silver Canyon Partnership, "because they genuinely care about the quality of the parks and other recreational amenities they incorporate in their communities."
Vivaldi Park is located on the west side of Seven Hills Drive, about a mile south of Lake Mead Drive. At 5.5 acres, it features a ball field, playground, picnic shelter and lawn. It is the third city park of a planned four at the community.
The fourth, Sonata Park, is scheduled to open on a 12-acre site in March 2000. Amenities will include a soccer field, tennis and basketball courts, a picnic shelter and playground. It will be connected to other areas by pathways. More than one-third of the community's 1,300 acres is allocated for open areas.
Already open are Puccini Park, which is on Seven Hills Drive, just south of the community's sales pavilion; and Allegro Park, which is located behind the sales pavilion. Various amenities include playgrounds; walking and bicycling paths; tennis, volleyball and basketball courts; picnic areas; and ball fields. Both parks were developed on 4.5-acre sites.
Several builders also have developed parks at the community.
Housing at Seven Hills includes single-family homes priced from the $120,000s to the $310,000s. Buyers can tour more than 30 model homes and choose from nearly four dozen floor plans.
