Former Baltimore residents tune in to Sun City Anthem
Sun City Anthem resident Barry Friedman, describing the Del Webb Corp. community in the foothills of Henderson's Black Mountain, said people "blossom" when they move to the community. "The stimulus is so vibrant here. Anyone who really wants to enjoy life can find so many activities and amenities," Friedman said. Barry and Marlyn Friedman moved from Baltimore, where Barry Friedman worked as a route salesman for a major bakery and Marlyn Friedman enjoyed playing the stock market. Marlyn Friedman has recently taken up tennis, ceramics and mahjong and enjoys swimming aerobics inside Anthem Center, the community's recreational facility. She also plays bocce ball on Sundays with other couples. "We really enjoy Trumpets, too," Friedman said. "It's the quality of the food that keeps us coming back, plus the atmosphere, scenery and Sunday brunches." Trumpets Restaurant, within the Anthem Center, takes dining into the foothills of Black Mountain, overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, Spring Mountains and The Revere golf course. Barry Friedman, who is president of the FYI Club (the investment club) and vice president of the Tennis Club, praises the staff of the facility. "They create such a friendly environment -- they're the best personnel I've ever encountered. They have such dedication, and they take a personal interest in the residents," he said. The Friedmans purchased the Monroe model, which Marlyn Friedman describes as a "great, roomy floor plan." The 1,596-square-foot Monroe has two bedrooms, two baths, a great room, breakfast area, utility room, two car-garage, cart area and covered patio. "We just love it here," Marlyn Friedman said. "There are so many fabulous things to do here," Barry Friedman said. "Del Webb has offered so many amenities, and there are activities for everyone's interests." The 75,000-square-foot Anthem Center opened last May and offers fitness, social, club and dining opportunities. The Revere golf club offers special rates and tee times for Sun City Anthem and Clark County residents. Buyers can choose from 15 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the community's Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
