GlenEagles easy choice for New Orleans transplants
Former New Orleans residents William and Chenier Ferguson found the perfect spot for their first residence in Southern Nevada at Wexford Homes' GlenEagles community. William Ferguson, an illusionist, and his wife, a producer for a television station, moved to town in August and began searching for a home. "I started by asking everyone I knew where they felt was the best place to buy a home in Las Vegas -- the neighborhoods they liked the best," William Ferguson said. "I was surprised to see how varied the local people's opinions were, so I decided to drive throughout the valley and decide which area I liked best." He had searched for about a week when he discovered the GlenEagles neighborhood in North Las Vegas. He was immediately attracted to the homes and the location. "I felt that the homes and the included amenities were superior to anything I had seen elsewhere," Ferguson said. "Then, I called Chenier and told her I had found a home that I thought she would like. She was a little hesitant, but when she arrived in Las Vegas and saw GlenEagles, she totally agreed with me. We both felt that this neighborhood offered everything we were looking for in a home and neighborhood -- and all for a very competitive price." One- and two-story floor plans at the two neighborhoods range from 912 to 3,248 feet. Homes are available with as many as six bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths and a three-car garage. Pricing starts at $111,990 and financing options include a program that offers qualified buyers zero-down financing, with a total move-in cost of one percent of the purchase price. The Fergusons were especially impressed by the spaciousness and architectural detailing. "In New Orleans, the homes are older and the floor plans are nowhere near as open as the homes in Las Vegas," Chenier Ferguson said. "We were particularly impressed with GlenEagles, because the homes are exceptionally spacious feeling, with vaulted ceilings, open living areas and roomy master suites and secondary bedrooms." A computer design system allows buyers to modify the basic floor plans, adding casitas, secondary suites, family rooms, lofts, dens, media centers, one or more bedrooms, formal dining rooms, bonus rooms, offices or wet bars. Rooms and garages can also be extended or combined. Options include Corian, granite or ceramic-tile counter tops; fireplaces in the family rooms, living rooms or owner suites; and skylights. Upgrades are available with appliances, cabinets, electrical and plumbing fixture packages, computer wiring systems and security systems. Interiors feature plant shelves, rounded corners, cabinets in a choice of colors, owner suites with garden tubs and walk-in closets in some plans, and prewiring for cable TV and telephones. To visit, take Craig Road to Kings Hill Road, which is west of Commerce Street, and then go west. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
