Siena `holiday' homes come with incentives

A limited number of "Homes for the Holiday" can be ready for move-in by the end of the year at the age-qualified Siena village within Summerlin, according to sales manager Ed Smith.

In the final days of the holiday promotion, good through Dec. 20, 2000, select homes offer incentives valued from $15,000 to $35,000.

"If getting into a new home is one of your priorities this year, now is actually an excellent time to buy," Smith said. "Many people put off home shopping until after the holidays, but when it comes to new homes, some of the best deals are offered in December."

The Mediterranean-style community's design staff will assist buyers with options and upgrades such as flooring, kitchen counter tops, wall coverings and window treatments. Two other options, both worth $4,000, are a golf cart or an appliance package that includes a washer, dryer, refrigerator and microwave.

At the community's model village, the Lamplighter Christmas Carolers, a quartet decked out in Victorian costumes, will sing holiday favorites this weekend and next from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Holiday refreshments will be served.

The community is an official drop-off center for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program. Residents and visitors can donate unwrapped toys through Thursday. Canned goods are also being collected.

All single-story and detached, the homes available in the promotion are priced from the mid-$150,000s to more than $650,000. The 14 floor plans range from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet.

Many homes have views of the community's 18-hole championship golf course.

A fitness center, slated to open this month, will have exercise equipment, saunas, steam rooms and an indoor lap pool. Outdoor facilities will include lighted tennis courts, bocce courts and swimming pools. There is a full-time fitness director.

A palm-lined private boulevard leads to the community's Tuscan-style entry, which has round-the-clock security. Neighborhoods are also patrolled.

The 665-acre Sunrise Colony Co. project will also have a community center with arts and crafts facilities and a ballroom and theater.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue west to Town Center Drive and head south 2 1/2 miles. Models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
