Richmond American Homes celebrates record sales year
Special to Real Estate
Last year was a good year for the staff at Richmond American Homes. In 1999, the builder sold more homes than at any other time in its 12-year history in Southern Nevada.
Liesel Williams, president of the Las Vegas division, credits customer referrals for many of the 561 homes the builder closed on in the Las Vegas area in 1999. Richmond American is now the sixth largest home builder in Southern Nevada compared with 1998, when it ranked ninth with 432 sales.
The homes are designed for a range of buyers, Williams said.
"We produce a wide variety of products throughout the Las Vegas Valley, and chances are that buyers will be able to locate one or more of our neighborhoods that is perfectly suited to their lifestyle and price range," she said.
"We design and build homes for people ... who appreciate quality construction and prime locations, coupled with affordability and recognizable value. It's a formula that Richmond American Homes has followed for over 25 years."
The builder has 13 neighborhoods under development in the valley. The single- and two-story homes range from about 1,000 to 3,000 square feet and are priced from the low $100,000s to the mid-$200,000s, depending on the neighborhood.
The division headquarters is housed at the same site as the Richmond American Design Center and HomeAmerican Mortgage, both of which are subsidiaries of the builder's parent company, M.D.C. Holdings Inc.
"This combination has proven to be a great source of satisfaction to our home buyers," Williams said. "They find they can resolve flooring, design and lending requirements for their new-home needs in one convenient location.
"We have received numerous comments from our clients regarding the ease with which they were able to complete these transactions. The close proximity of these services makes the home-buying experience a pleasure for them," she said.
Nationwide, Richmond American builds more than 7,000 homes annually, which enables the company to buy in volume, Williams said.
"This purchasing power allows us to obtain higher quality components for our homes at a lower cost, which ultimately benefits our buyers."
Staff members also view 1999 as a good year because they were able to continue to support such organizations as HELP of Southern Nevada, which assists homeless families.
Last Christmas, the builder "adopted" Madison Elementary School in Las Vegas and provided gifts for the 465 pupils attending the school.
