Huntington buyers end search with Malibu plan

One look at the two-story Malibu model home at The Huntington, a Coventry Homes neighborhood in the southern valley, was all it took for Matt and Sheree Royer to complete their search for a new home.
"We saw the home on Monday and bought it on Friday," Matt Royer said. "We didn't have to drive all over town looking for a home."
The Royers, who moved to the valley more than five years ago from Pennsylvania, immediately noticed their home's setback garage.
"That's the first thing we noticed. It's back away from the road and not a dominant part of the architecture. Instead of having the garage up front, you have a porch," Matt Royer said. "Front porches and (covered) patios are not common in Las Vegas. We liked the fact that the home looked like a very `traditional' house, the way a house is supposed to look. It's not just a big garage door in front."
The couple's 1,522-square-foot Malibu home has two bedrooms and a loft.
"We liked the fact that there was a separate powder room for guests when they visit," Royer said. "We also liked that there was a breakfast nook in the kitchen and that the home has lots of windows, which are double insulated. It's a very efficient use of space in the home."
He said the builder's reputation also influenced their home purchase. Several of his clients, who had purchased Del Webb Corp. homes, praised the builder's construction and service.
The neighborhood also offers the Newport floor plan, a single-story home with 1,156 square feet; the two-story, 1,665-square-foot Del Mar home; the Carmel, a two-story home with 1,940 square feet; and the Monterey, a two-story home with 2,196 square feet.
Homes are priced from the mid-$110,000s to mid-$150,000s and offer two to four bedrooms and two to 2 1/2 baths.
Standard features include finished two-car garages, front-yard landscaping, concrete-tile roofs, rear- and side-yard fencing, rounded wall corners, walk-in closets, tub and shower enclosures, and recessed lighting.
To visit, take Eastern Avenue to Silverado Ranch Boulevard and head west. Models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at 10 a.m.
