Ex-Californians buy home at Ashbrook

     Moving to Las Vegas from San Jose, Calif., was a big change for Henry and Maria Elena Payan. With their children grown, they wanted a home just for the two of them, but with enough room for their children and grandchildren to visit. In the midst of their search, they found everything they wanted at Avante Homes' Ashbrook neighborhood in the northwestern valley.
      The Payans visited the neighborhood during its grand opening and fell in love with the Mahogany plan, a 1,735-square-foot, single-story home.
      "We were renting a home in the northwest valley, and wanted to stay, so we had been looking in that area for several months. Ashbrook's Mahogany plan was the best," Maria Elena Payan said. "I especially loved the master bedroom and bath, and the spacious kitchen ... The people we have dealt with at Ashbrook have all been so helpful, the whole buying process has been a pleasure."
      The floor plan features three bedrooms, or two bedrooms with a den option, two baths and separate living and family rooms. The kitchen has a preparation island and cabinets.
      Sequoia, a two-story plan measuring 2,008 square feet, features four bedrooms, including a downstairs bedroom and bath, and a formal living room.
      Homes are priced from the high $120,000s, and each includes a two-car garage.
      All homes include tile entries, and gas fireplaces in family rooms. Owner bedrooms and family rooms are prewired for ceiling fans. All owner suites feature dual vanities, separate showers and tubs, and walk-in closets.
      Exteriors include ground-mounted air-conditioning units, concrete-tile roofs, block walls and a choice of front-yard landscaping with irrigation.
      To visit, take Jones Boulevard to Tropical Parkway, head east to Bradley Road, then drive north, past Bullring Lane, and follow the signs. Models are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
