Double dealin'

Christopher Collection impresses duo

Dan and Adina Somers have twice purchased new homes within The Christopher Collection at Southern Highlands Golf Club.

"The first home we bought was a completed model, but at the time we noticed a nearby golf course home site that Christopher Homes had not yet released," Dan Somers said. "We asked our sales consultant to let us know when that home site would be available, because we loved the size of it and the views it offered. As soon as that home site was released, we went to contract on our second home."

Somers, who is in the real estate business, and his wife selected the builder's DaVinci design. The two-story residence measures 5,286 square feet with a grand entry, master suite, two secondary bedrooms, a separate guest suite and a study.

"We felt that the DaVinci model was the best floor plan we had ever seen," said Adina Somers, a retired piano teacher. "It has a private, central courtyard, which creates wonderful indoor/outdoor relationships and allows lots of natural light into the home. Our home will also have detached guest quarters, as well as detached home office. It is a spacious yet well-defined floor plan that works well.

"We also appreciated the flexibility in design offered by Christopher Homes. In our case, we chose the optional wine cellar and also expanded our family room and master suite, which increased the size of our home to more than 6,400 square feet."

Dan Somers said the impression Christopher made during their first purchase played a role in selecting the builder a second time.

"Everyone we have dealt with from our sales person to our design consultant and the construction people, has been friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to our questions and requests. They even have a special ground-breaking ceremony for each of their buyers, with champagne and hors d'oeuvres, which was unlike anything we've ever experienced with a home builder," he said.

Five residences remain for sale within The Christopher Collection, while three homes remain in the neighboring The Villas. The floor plans range from 2,163 to more than 6,000 square feet and are priced from roughly $700,000 to $2 million. Golf course lots are available.

Buyers at each neighborhood receive a social membership to the private Southern Highlands Golf Club, if their application is approved. Anchoring the course is a clubhouse with formal and informal dining, a golf library, wine room, furnished locker rooms and a pro shop.

The Spa at Southern Highlands provides a range of services, as well as treatment rooms, lounges, steam rooms and vitality pools. Also featured is a fitness center, yoga studio, lighted tennis courts, a swimming pool, cabanas, an outdoor hot tub, and a children's pool and play area.

Christopher Homes is also developing The Enclave, a gated neighborhood of custom homes at Southern Highlands Golf Club. There will be 16 residences, measuring from 5,000 to more than 10,000 square feet and priced from about $2 million to $7.5 million. The lots measure one-third acre to three-quarters of an acre. Many lots overlook a neighborhood park.

Southern Highlands is a guard-gated community in the southwestern valley. It also has a security patrol.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the Henderson/Lake Mead exit and go west. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
