Rolladen buyer credits shutters with energy savings, peace of mind
It didn't take Ernestine and Harold Armstrong long to consider Rolladen Rolling Shutters for their four-bedroom, single-story home.
When they considered the energy savings and protection against crime, purchasing the shutters seemed like the ideal addition to their home.
"People really should think about getting them," Ernestine Armstrong said. "There are so many advantages to having the shutters."
She said her power bill was $20 less in August than the same period one year before having the shutters.
The shutters, which are foam-filled aluminum slats, can reduce power bills by 35 to 64 percent, according to the manufacturer. In addition, they protect against intrusion, noise and wind.
They have been popular in Europe for more than 100 years and are frequently added on during construction.
Since having the shutters installed on their home, many of the couple's friends have been impressed with the product.
"I'm very happy with the service of Rolladen," Armstrong said. "I like to travel, and it's nice having the shutters."
Rolladen Rolling Shutters is situated at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd., the former home of local franchise owner Fran Minnozzi. Minnozzi opened the business more than 14 years ago.
The product is assembled locally, after a home or business has been measured and costs have been estimated. It comes with an unconditional three-year warranty on all parts. The firm uses slat profiles with the thickest gauge of aluminum in the industry.
The company's office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. No-cost estimates are available.
