Mortgage industry
aid Shade Tree
A check for $8,500 was presented last week to the Shade Tree Shelter for Women and Children by members of the Mortgage Industry Holiday Party.
Devvie Hedderly of Irwin Mortgage, chairperson of the party committee; and Kimm Ellis of Lender's Credit/Info 1, chairperson of the fund-raising committee, presented the check Tuesday to Brenda Dizon, a representative of the shelter.
The third annual Holiday Party was attended by members of the Association for Professional Mortgage Women, the Appraisal Institute, Nevada Association of Mortgage Brokers, Southern Nevada Mortgage Bankers Association and the Title Insurance Companies.
The industry was able to raise funds by having companies sponsor the party and donate prizes that were raffled off to partygoers.
Lied Institute gives
commercial courses
The Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies presents the Commercial Real Estate Certification Program in a series of nine courses beginning Feb. 20 on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The program, offered through a partnership between the institute and the Southern Nevada chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, provides an overview of the commercial real estate and development arena.
Students will earn continuing education credit, while working toward their commercial certificate.

Third Real Trends
conference scheduled
The third annual Real Trends conference will be held Jan. 22 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, according to James Stuart, Colliers International managing partner.
The half-day conference will address issues and forecasts in the fields of retail, industrial, office and residential development. Stuart said panel members will provide a critical overview and fact-finding arena for anyone who will make a decision in 1999 influenced by the Las Vegas real estate market.
