First-time buyer chooses Pacific Homes' Deerfield

When Ronda Goodman decided to move up from an apartment to a condominium, she looked at nearly 10 projects before deciding on Deerfield, a gated condominium and townhome development by Pacific Homes in Summerlin.
"I was looking for a condo or a single-family home in a good area; Summerlin is very nice," she said. "I like the way the community is placed -- close to Summerlin Parkway. It makes travel convenient."
Goodman said she was wasting money by paying rent every month. Not only is her condominium larger than her apartment, but her payments are lower.
She chose the Mulberry, a 1,077-square-foot model with two bedrooms, two baths and a one-car garage. Although this floor plan is the smallest at the neighborhood, it is spacious enough for Goodman and her two black cats, Bill and Bob.
The neighborhood offers six floor plans ranging from 1,077 to 1,669 square feet, with as many as three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Prices start in the low $90,000s.
Interior features include ceramic-tile counter tops, cabinets with adjustable shelves in a choice of finishes and mirrored wardrobe doors in owner suites.
Goodman said because she used Pacific Homes Financial, she received $2,500 in custom upgrades.
"I feel this purchase was a good value," she said. "Because of the upgrades, (the condominium) was appraised higher than the purchase price."
Community amenities include a clubhouse with a full kitchen and bar, an exercise room and a spa and swimming pool.
"The pool is beautiful," Goodman said. "Since this is mainly an adult community, there are not many small children around. I can go to the pool and relax in a peaceful environment."
She also likes the fact that there are several golf course options available in the area; the Tournament Players Clubs at Summerlin and The Canyons, The Badlands, Angel Park and the Sun City courses.
"I play at Sun City and Angel Park once in a while," she said. "Not only are they convenient courses, but they add aesthetic appeal to the area."
A large strip mall within walking distance to Deerfield offers a wide range of shopping options.
"There are some great stores in the shopping center," she said. "I have probably used at least 75 percent of the stores in the center at least once."
To visit, take Summerlin Parkway to Town Center Drive and turn north. Follow Village Center Circle to Trails Center Drive, take a right and follow the road for about a half mile. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pacific Homes has many new developments valleywide, including condominiums, apartments, townhomes and single-family homes. Its Pacific Homes Financial Division can assist the company's home buyers with a variety of mortgage lending options. The company also has an extensive property management division.
