Summerlin Council helps maintain high standards
As the country's fastest-growing master-planned community develops, maintaining its high standards is an ever-growing challenge, according to Summerlin President Dan Van Epp.
Van Epp said four full-time community service representatives employed by The Summerlin Council, the operating arm of the community association, work toward keeping the community an attractive, first-rate development.
"Summerlin's community service representatives are actively involved with residents on a daily basis to address concerns as they relate to Summerlin's covenants, codes and restrictions," Van Epp said. "Most importantly, they help to protect home values for all who live in the community by ensuring compliance with community standards."
They also act as "eyes and ears" of the community, according to Van Epp.
"Residents appreciate the fact that these individuals are accessible, informed and friendly. They are some of our community's best ambassadors," he said.
As the community expands, additional representatives will be added to the staff.
"The job of a community service representative is invaluable," Van Epp said. "Our goal is to ensure that Summerlin will remain as beautiful and vibrant as it is today. Without the front-line assistance of our community service representative team, it would difficult, if not impossible, to meet the needs of our growing community."
According to Van Epp, Summerlin's community service representative program is unique.
"Very few communities in the country have such a program, particularly one that employs individuals on a full-time basis. It's just one more way Summerlin is striving to retain its position as the nation's premier community."
Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin has ranked as the nation's top-selling master-planned community in five of the past six years, according to an independent survey by Robert Charles Lesser & Co.
Situated in the western valley, the community is unfolding in villages, each with a major park or golf course. It is home to two Tournament Players Club golf courses, three Sun City courses and two Arnold Palmer-designed courses under development. The community is also home to eight village parks, more than 40 neighborhood parks, the Summerlin Trail, a dozen schools, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers and more than 60 neighborhoods.
Homes are available in a variety of styles, including single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums. They are priced from the mid-$80,000s to more than $500,000. Custom lots range from one-quarter to three-quarters of an acre and are priced from $80,000 to $300,000.
Custom homes designed by Summerlin's Preferred Custom Builders are priced from $500,000 to $2 million.
