Firefighter chooses professional theme for Shadow Springs home
North Las Vegas firefighter Greg Koehler brings his work home with him. The Detroit-area native plans to decorate his new home at KB Home's Shadow Springs subdivision in North Las Vegas with themes from his profession. Koehler said the firefighter decor will include metal diamond plating in the kitchen and a solidified fire hose as part of his stair railing. "I am a bachelor, so I can decorate any way I want," he said. Scale models and wall hangings are among the other items Koehler will display in his 2,035-square-foot Celestial floor plan. "I really like open space," he said. "So this floor plan is great for me. I can see from the family room to the front door." Koehler said he also appreciated the numerous options open to him. He added a bonus room, converted one of the bedrooms into a den/office, and added a covered patio. After moving to Southern Nevada two years ago, Koehler looked at developments throughout North Las Vegas. "I looked at more than 100 model homes before deciding on the Celestial model at Shadow Springs," he said. "And because I was one of the first buyers in the community, I got to pick which lot I wanted in the cul-de-sac." His new home overlooks one of four planned parks in the development. Located near Centennial Parkway and Losee Road, the development offers 23 floor plans ranging from 1,384 to 2,784 square feet. The single- and two-story homes offer three to six bedrooms. Options include energy-efficient windows, kitchen islands, fireplaces and covered patios. The builder offers one-stop shopping at its Home Studio. The 22,000-square-foot design center, located at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201, houses information on its subdivisions throughout Southern Nevada. In addition, a Homebuyers Club helps buyers prepare for homeownership through credit counseling; and the company's lending division is on site. KB Home develops subdivisions in several states. In fiscal 2003, the company delivered 27,331 homes.
