Summerlin hosts Showcase of Homes

With more than 700 families residing in custom homes in eight neighborhoods, Summerlin has become one of the Las Vegas Valley's preferred addresses, according to the developer, The Howard Hughes Corp.
Beginning Saturday, the public is invited to tour three new homes at Willow Falls, the master-planned community's ninth and newest custom-home neighborhood, during Showcase of Homes 2000. The homes will be open for viewing daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 20.
Two workshops are planned in conjunction with the show, according to Stew Gibbons, executive vice president of Hughes Corp.
"Not only will we be showing off three fabulous new custom homes, (but also) we will be hosting two free workshops that will feature a panel of custom-home experts," Gibbons said. "Our goal is to help prospective custom-home owners better understand that their dream of owning a custom home is within reach and doesn't need to be complicated."
The panelists will be Mary Beth Wubker of First American Mortgage; Cy Najafi of Deatelier Design Group; Karen Andrew, a landscape designer; Linda Baxter of Linda Baxter Designs; and Dane Isenmann of Goolsby, Smith, Isenmann Builders.
The first workshop will be presented on Saturday, and the second is scheduled for Aug. 5. The classes will run from 10 to 11 a.m. both days.
Goolsby, Smith, Isenmann Builders, which built the homes, is one of six featured builders that design and build custom homes in Summerlin. The homes, priced from the high $600,000s, are built on one-third acre lots in the Willow Falls neighborhood within Willow Creek, a guard-gated development in the community's The Willows village.
The two-story, 3,145-square-foot Santa Barbara comes with a porte-cochere, stone and wood flooring, built-in appliances and a media center. At 3,282 square feet, the Monterrey is a traditional French-style single-story home. It has a rotunda entry, courtyard with a fireplace and spa, and detached casita. A gated courtyard with a fireplace leads to the Carmel, a single-story, French-style home measuring 3,183 square feet.
Dane Isenmann, a principal with the building firm, said there are "no surprises" in the price of a home built by his company.
"From the wood and marble floors to the granite counter tops; from the imported brass fixtures to the cherrywood cabinets; everything in a GSI home is included in the price. It's the only way to earn and keep a homeowner's trust," he said.
To tour the show homes or attend a workshop, take Sahara Avenue west to Town Center Drive and turn left. Proceed to Havenwood Lane, turn right, drive to Golden Willow Lane and turn right. Enter the Willow Creek development and follow the signs.
Willow Creek is also home to Wood Glen and Heritage Glen by Toll Bros., and Eden Ridge by Pulte Homes.
Summerlin features two Tournament Players Club golf courses and six others, 10 major parks, more than 40 neighborhood parks, more than 40 miles of trails, schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers, cultural facilities and more than 250 model homes.
Housing ranges from single-family homes to townhomes and condominiums priced from $90,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-quarter acre to one-third acre are priced from $90,000 to $300,000, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million.
To visit the sales centers, take Summerlin Parkway to Town Center Drive and turn north, then turn east on Hillwood Drive. Or, take Sahara Avenue to Blue Willow Lane, west of Hualapai Way, and turn south. Both centers are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
