Social activities key to Siena lifestyle
Special to Real Estate
Although many residents of Siena are still employed, they are having the time of their lives at the age-qualified village in Summerlin, according to activities manager Kristyne Blake.
"Retired or not, these are people who are very busy getting the most out of life and having a lot of fun," Blake said. "Many Siena couples have an empty nest for the first time, (and) they're also enjoying spending quality time together. Siena is a very special place. It recaptures the traditional values of a small American town, like getting to know your neighbors. People are already looking out for each other here."
The social activities organized by Blake are key to the lifestyle at the guard-gated development. Such activities include an Academy Awards night with gourmet dining, a resident golf tournament, hiking at Red Rock Canyon, an old-fashioned ice cream social, a cruise on Lake Mead, and holiday theme parties. Many residents invited their children and grandchildren to the community's Fourth of July barbecue.
"A lot of the ideas for activities come from the residents themselves, and I'm always open to their suggestions," Blake said. "Residents tell us (living at Siena) is like being on vacation every day."
Activities planned for later this year include a trip to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park to attend a musical, spending a day in Mesquite, going as a group to a Las Vegas Stars baseball game, and a tailgate party at a University of Nevada, Las Vegas, football game. Block parties are also popular among residents, several of whom are planning to travel together to Siena, Italy.
Recreation also plays an important role at the community, where an 18-hole championship golf course is open to the public. Residents receive special rates and preferred tee times. An 11,800-square-foot golf club is planned to include a pro shop, learning facility, and restaurant with outdoor seating.
A 15,900-square-foot fitness center is scheduled to open this fall with cardiovascular equipment, a weight room, wellness center, saunas, steam rooms, massage rooms, and a 25-meter indoor lap pool. Outdoor amenities will include lighted tennis courts, bocce courts, a lap pool and swimming pool.
A 40,000-square-foot community center is planned to include arts and crafts facilities, meeting rooms, a library, grand ballroom and theater, card rooms, a billiard room and business center.
