Ex-Californians drawn to
Green Valley Ranch lifestyle
When JoAnn and Reverend DeLaney Armstead moved out of Alameda, Calif., they chose Southern Nevada as a place to retire. Then, they picked Green Valley Ranch in Henderson as the place with the right combination of features.
"We looked all over town, and then one day we were visiting a friend at Green Valley Ranch to wish her a happy birthday," JoAnn Armstead said. "Her son suggested that we look at new homes here and even drove us personally to each of the neighborhoods. We're glad we took his advice, because once we walked through the model homes at Castle Rock, we knew our search was over. We discovered the perfect floor plan for us, with plenty of space for entertaining and for our grandchildren, who will be visiting us frequently. We were also pleased to find a home site that was large enough for us to have a wonderful swimming pool and waterfall."
The Armsteads also liked the general atmosphere of the community.
"Green Valley Ranch reminds us of some of the most appealing areas of California," Armstead said. "The landscaping is lush and well-maintained and there are lots of parks, trails and open space areas. It's a place that offers elegant homes and neighborhoods, along with recreational amenities for people of all ages."
Green Valley Ranch is a development of American Nevada Corp.
Home buyers can choose from several neighborhoods. They are: Castle Rock Estates and Mystic Bay by Richmond American Homes; Meritage by Capital Pacific Homes; and Carriage Lane by U.S. Home.
The community is highlighted by city parks, neighborhood parks, and walking and jogging trails with shade pavilions and rest areas.
Construction begins this fall on the 38-acre Henderson Promenade and Special Events Plaza in Green Valley Ranch. The facility is being developed by the city of Henderson on land donated by American Nevada Corp.
The complex will include a 7,500-seat amphitheater, a 70,000-square-foot community center, a public library and a police substation, which was completed last year.
Plans for the center include an outdoor swimming pool and activities pool, as well as an indoor aquatic center.
To visit the master-planned community, take Interstate 215 to Green Valley Parkway and drive south.
