MacDonald Highlands custom community takes shape in Henderson

Developer Rich MacDonald invites custom-lot buyers to visit MacDonald Highlands in Henderson and see firsthand the growth of the luxury community.

"It's really been a joy watching this community develop," MacDonald said. "There are now beautiful custom homes lining the golf course at DragonRidge, homes lining the first of our three community parks, and homes that can be seen from miles away as they watch over the Las Vegas Valley from their hillside perch.

"Two families are now living in MacDonald Highlands custom homes, with many more, including my own family, planning to move into their new homes in the coming weeks and months."

There are currently more than 60 custom-home plans in various stages of the design process, and 24 homes that have been completed or are under construction in the hillside community, which will comprise about 560 homes at buildout.

Seven custom neighborhoods are under development, and offer city and mountain views as well as views of the community's DragonRidge Golf and Country Club. Home sites in these neighborhoods are priced from $159,000 to more than $2 million.

The DragonRidge clubhouse is planned to feature a golf shop, an exercise facility, a swimming pool, and casual and fine dining. A temporary clubhouse is open and tee times are available.

MacDonald Highlands is hosting the 2002 Street of Dreams luxury housing tour. Bryan Ashbaugh, CEO of Street of Dreams Inc., said the event will be the first to feature terraced, hillside custom homes.

"The next Street of Dreams will likely be the most spectacular of any we've put together in Southern Nevada," Ashbaugh said. "The unique hillside geography of MacDonald Highlands, coupled with the community's unparalleled views of the valley, offer the opportunity to really create something special."

To tour the community, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway. The information office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
