Rolladen shutters deter heat, crime
When Tamara and Daniel Cros moved into their single-story home five years ago, one of the first things they did was call on Rolladen Rolling Shutters.
The couple has become part of a growing list of happy customers to purchase shutters and an awning from the company, located at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd.
The shutter company addressed the security, insulation and light control problems Daniel Cros and his wife faced, and added to the enjoyment of their back yard.
"We purchased the shutters primarily for security reasons," said Daniel Cros, a Las Vegas magician. "Having used security bars in our previous residence, we knew firsthand how easily the unattractive `jail bars' could be removed and the security aspect defeated. Alarm systems that give after-the-fact warnings didn't appeal to us either. Rolladen was the perfect answer."
The shutters have also guarded against "hot spot" windows.
"We can't imagine what our electric bill would have been without them," he said.
The shutters are foam-filled aluminum slats that reduce heat and provide a barrier against crime. According to a company representative, they may reduce power bills as much as 50 percent.
When the Croses decided their back yard needed shade, they called Rolladen for a retractable awning equipped with a wind sensor.
"The materials and working mechanisms are the same quality that we came to expect from our experience with Rolladen Shutters, and the selection of the awning fabric is wonderful, with more than enough colors and designs to suit any taste or decor," Cros said.
"Not only does the awning extend and retract at the push of a button to instantly give us a huge shaded area, it also has a wind sensor that automatically retracts the awning should the wind rise above 20 miles per hour," Tamara Cros said. "Anyone who's lived here very long knows how unpredictable the Las Vegas winds can be, and it's wonderful to know we can leave the house and not worry about whether or not we remembered to retract the awning."
With both the awning and the shutter installation, the Croses were happy with the service provided by Rolladen.
"More importantly, (the company) and its capable staff are as reputable and dependable as the products they sell and service," Daniel Cros said.
"Any homeowner, whether new or long-time to the Las Vegas area, will appreciate the value of doing business with a company whose products are every bit as good as they're represented to be and whose word is as good as their products," he said.
