Street of Dreams closes, announces awards
Builders, architects, designers, landscapers and others involved in the 2002 Street of Dreams show at the MacDonald Highlands hillside community were recognized for their accomplishments at an awards dinner held last Sunday at the Venetian. Street of Dreams Inc. President Dave Straughan congratulated all participants for their "extraordinary efforts toward making our third show in Las Vegas another outstanding success." Straughan said the 2002 Street of Dreams was a record-breaker for Southern Nevada, drawing more than 50,000 patrons during its six-week run. He said comments received from visitors were overwhelmingly positive. "Time and time again, people praised the quality of architecture and interior design in your homes and described the fun they had walking through them," Straughan said. "We congratulate all of you for the talent and hard work you put forth in creating our most successful show ever in Las Vegas." Two sets of awards were presented at the event; one determined by professional judges, the other by the public. The results were: Best of Show (professional vote) -- Windemere by Sun West Custom Homes. Best of Show (public vote) -- Windemere by Sun West Custom Homes. Best Interior Design (professional vote) Windemere by Sun West Custom Homes; interior design by Karen Butera Inc. Straughan presented a special award of appreciation to MacDonald Highlands developer Rich MacDonald for "creating a magnificent venue for Street of Dreams and for doing such a fabulous job in working with us through each phase, ensuring that the show ran smoothly from start to finish." Representatives of Street of Dreams Inc. and MacDonald Properties Ltd. announced that the next show in Southern Nevada will be held again at MacDonald Highlands. The 2002 Street of Dreams show featured the largest, most expensive homes in the show's history. It also featured the first hillside homes ever in a show. The four multi-level mansions were priced from $1.995 million to $3.75 million (excluding furnishings and artwork) and ranged from 5,408 to 8,251 square feet. Builders and design firms that participated in the 2002 Street of Dreams were GJM Development (Joy Bell Design Associates), 5 Star Development/Hi-Con (Designers Touch), Job Construction (Sydni Jay Associates -- Designers) and Sun West Custom Homes (Karen Butera Inc.). Street of Dreams Inc. is a Seattle-based promotions company whose sole business is producing luxury home tours. The show was the 60th such event the company has held since it began 17 years ago.
