Summerlin supports social clubs

Summerlin residents participate in more than 20 organizations and clubs through The Summerlin Council, the social arm of the Summerlin Community Association.

Groups form around many interests, including a dining out club, singles social club, women's club, young professionals coffee club and playgroup pals club for children. Activities-oriented clubs bring together residents who enjoy swiming, running, motorcycling, bridge and chess.

"The various clubs allow residents to engage in activities they enjoy and to meet others in the community who share similar interests," said Tom Warden, vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

One of the newest clubs, the Red Rock Swim Club, focuses on improving swimming techniques. The year-round team, coached by certified instructors, has about 40 members. The team practices daily at Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center.

"The purpose of the club is to develop competitive swimmers while promoting positive behavior and effective teamwork," said Kirk Carpenter, swim coach and resident.

Summerlin is home to eight golf courses, more than 100 parks, nearly 107 completed miles of trails, 18 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities, business parks and about 165 model homes.

Homes are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots are priced from the high $400,000s to more than $1 million. Custom homes are priced from $1.7 million.

Apartments offer monthly rents from the high $700s.

To visit the Summerlin Home Finding Center, travel west on Sahara Avenue, past Hualapai Way, to Town Center Drive and turn north, or take Interstate 215 to Sahara Avenue. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
