US Home searches for look-alike of Spokesdog

US Home is hosting a "Spokesdog Look-Alike" contest today in the Palomino Canyon neighborhood in southwest Las Vegas.

The contest complements the builder's "Name the US Home Puppy" promotion, which is under way at all of the builder's neighborhoods.

"We are having so much fun with our Spokesdog advertising campaign, we decided a `Look-Alike' contest was definitely in order," Vicki Zoot, a sales executive for the builder, said. "We're inviting everyone to bring their dog to Palomino Canyon (today) for the contest.

"There will be a $300 first prize for the dog that most resembles the Spokesdog featured in our print ads, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Trophies will also be presented."

In addition, awards will be handed out for the "Cutest Dog," the "Dog Most Unlike Our Spokesdog" and for "Best Personality."

Each dog must be on a leash and accompanied by an adult.

All dogs and owners can check in at the model home park between 12:30 and 2 p.m., when the judging will start.

Other activities will include a radio remote from noon to 2 p.m., prizes and refreshments.

The neighborhood's homes range from 1,497 to 2,659 square feet and are priced from the $170,000s.

To visit the neighborhood, take Interstate 215 to Durango Drive, head south to Arby Avenue and go west, following the signs.

All of the builder's sales offices are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.
