According to Seth Ure, president of Woodside Homes, developer of Palmilla and Cypress at Allerton Park, the addition of the two new plans is a reflection of the growing popularity of single-story homes.
"Increasing land prices encouraged many home builders to build multi-level homes to maintain affordable housing options," Ure said. "But as the market has stabilized, it has become more feasible to build single-story homes to accommodate those who prefer single-level housing."
Peggy Chandler, senior vice president of community development for The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin, agrees with Ure.
"Home buyers have more affordable options today than they did a few years ago, so they can be a little more selective with their purchase," she said.
"We are pleased that Summerlin offers so many different options for those who prefer single-story living."
