Luxury resort encircles lake

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The lake at Lake Las Vegas Resort is designed to preserve and protect the ecological environment at the luxury community in Henderson. It also serves as a venue for water enthusiasts.

"Every day, wildlife can be found in and around the lake area, including eagles, ducks, beavers, rabbits and frogs. This habitat has become the backdrop for the entire resort, providing wildlife and residents with a spectacular playground in the desert," said R.F. Boeddeker, chairman and president of Transcontinental Corp., developer of the resort.

The 320-acre lake provides 10 miles of shoreline, and opportunities to swim, sail, kayak, canoe, wind surf and sport fish. Gasoline powered vessels are prohibited.

The lake is complemented by a full-service marina, the SouthShore Yacht & Beach Club, a 496-room Hyatt Regency hotel, and the Jack Nicklaus-designed SouthShore and Reflection Bay golf clubs. Under construction is a Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course. Another course is being planned by Tom Fazio.

A further complement will be MonteLago Village, a shopping and dining experience slated to open early next year. Included will be a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, a Florentine-style bridge, restaurants, offices and condominiums.

Residential options range from custom-home sites and waterfront residences to golf villas and townhomes. Custom lots at SouthShore are priced from the $300,000s to more than $2 million. Homes on the northern shore are priced from $400,000s to more than $1 million.

"We have made our vision a reality by offering visitors and residents the world's finest golf courses, upscale hotels and residences, luxurious amenities, all centered around a serene lake," Boeddeker said.

Potential residents of the 2,600-acre community are offered free, 45-minute water taxi rides on the lake.

To visit, take Interstate 515 to Lake Mead Drive and head east to Lake Las Vegas Parkway. Or, take Interstate 215 to Lake Las Vegas Parkway.
