Jazz music fills air in Seven Hills

The Seven Hills master-planned community in Henderson will host a free outdoor concert featuring Walt Blanton's Jazz Band on Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m. The concert will be held at Sonata Park, 1550 Seven Hills Drive.

Blanton, a longtime Las Vegas resident, is an accomplished cornet, trumpet and flugelhorn player, as well as a composer. At next weekend's concert, he will deliver a tribute to the swinging and soothing sounds of Duke Ellington.

The concert will be sponsored by the Seven Hills Builders and the city of Henderson Parks & Recreation Department. Attendees are invited to bring blankets and picnic baskets, and refreshments will be available for sale.

To attend, take Interstate 215 to Eastern Avenue, go south to St. Rose Parkway, head west about a mile to Seven Hills Drive and then go south. Additional parking and free shuttle bus service will be available at Elise L. Wolff Elementary School.

The 1,300-acre Seven Hills community, which is a development of Silver Canyon Partnership, is located in the foothills of Black Mountain and will comprise more than 3,000 homes in 25 neighborhoods.

Many model homes are available in several neighborhoods and are priced from the low $200,000s. Custom-home sites are priced from the $200,000s to more than $1 million and some offer city, golf course and mountain views.

Neighborhoods open for sales are: Renaissance by Pardee Homes, Palazzo Monte by US Home, Meridiana by Trident Homes, Encore at Palatine Hill by Richmond American Homes, and Villa Villagio by Astoria Homes. Custom lots are available in the neighborhoods of Venezia and Terracina by Silver Canyon Partnership, and Corcovado and Portofino Custom Homesites by Nevastar Investment Corp.

About one-third of the community is dedicated to open space, and most neighborhoods interconnect with parks and walkways. Four city parks and neighborhood parks feature such amenities as basketball and tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, volleyball courts, and playgrounds.

The community's sales pavilion, which is located just inside the community on Seven Hills Drive, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
