Siena promotes senior health, fitness

Residents of the age-qualified Siena community in Summerlin will mark National Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday with a variety of activities that promote exercise and well-being.

"Senior Health and Fitness Day is nationally recognized as a day where more than 1,500 organizations from across the country, including us here at Siena, hold a variety of health- and fitness-related activities," fitness manager Wayne Ireland said. "Our residents are concerned with keeping healthy and fit, and we are proud to be participating in Senior Health and Fitness Day for the fourth consecutive year."

Scheduled activities include a fun walk, a mixed doubles tennis tournament, a bocce tournament, a horseshoe tournament and a quarter-mile swim. The day will conclude with a poolside barbecue.

"In addition to our annual Senior Health and Fitness Day activities, our residents regularly utilize the Siena Health and Fitness Center to keep in shape and stay healthy," Ireland said.

The facility offers classes, activities, wellness seminars and personal training.

The center also features indoor and outdoor pools and spas, tennis and bocce courts, a wellness center, and beauty salon and day spa.

Siena is being developed by Sunrise Colony Co.

A social center is scheduled for completion this summer. It will feature a domed lobby and lounge, grand ballroom, business center, arts and crafts rooms, and card and game rooms.

The clubhouse, which anchors an 18-hole, daily-fee golf course, has a pro shop and restaurant with indoor and patio dining. The course is open to the public, however, residents receive special rates and preferred tee times.

Homes are priced from the $150,000s to the $400,000s, plus site premiums. Six Italian-themed collections feature 18 single-story floor plans that range from 1,040 to 3,200 square feet.

Each plan offers three exterior designs and myriad customizing options, including some plans with courtyard fireplaces and casitas.

Interior designers are on-site to assist buyers.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
