Tuscan Cliffs features high-tech access

The homes at Tuscan Cliffs, a semi-custom neighborhood located in the Southern Highlands master-planned community, feature high-tech options such as automated lights and a central media system database.

"For a great many buyers today, connectivity is well past cable outlets and phone jacks," said Rob Evon, a sales agent with Tuscan Cliffs' builder, Pacific Southwest Development.

Pre-wiing is available for surround sound speakers, while media rooms are featured in all floor plans, enabling home buyers to explore options such as the Kaleidoscope system, which stores music and movies.

"The system stores it all like a giant iPod at one place in the home," Evon said. "Once it's there, they can send anything on it anywhere in the home. So the parents can watch one movie upstairs, while some of the kids watch another downstairs at the same time and someone else pipes music to the patio while using the swimming pool or spa. It's useful for entertaining guests, when the kids want to watch something else, and it also keeps all of the CDs and DVDs put away out of sight."

The Crestron system provides homeowners with the option of using remote-control for heating and air-conditioning, lighting and audio-visual technology.

According to the builder, the system may activate appliances, such as a coffee maker or espresso machine downstairs, turn on lights when someone approaches a door at night, or turn music on and off in various areas, according to schedule.

"Even for those who don't know what they want right away, there's an advantage to getting a home wired," Evon said. "It's fairly cheap to get the wires added when the home's built, and it's a lot harder and more expensive later on."

The neighborhood offers four floor plans, ranging from 4,328 to 5,441 square feet. Design options can expand square footage to as much as 6,000 square feet.

Each home occupies a lot measuring at least one-quarter acre. Premium lots, including mountainside home sites in future phase releases, are available.

Standard amenities include paver stone driveways, sand-finished stucco exteriors, stainless steel appliances, 42-inch maple cabinets, granite countertops, 6-foot garden tubs, wood-clad Andersen windows, Kohler plumbing fixtures and structured wiring systems. Options include a variety of kitchen appliances, cabinets and countertop choices, as well as specialty features such as elevators.

Exterior amenities include courtyards and covered patios. Exterior options include water and fire features, such as outdoor fountains and ifreplaces, along with a selection of stone trim exteriors, summer kitchens with appliances and a range of landscaping choices. Each residence meets Energy Star standards. Base prices range from $1 million to $1.25 million.

For a limited time, the builder will pay one year of dues for a social membership to the Southern Highlands Golf Club with each purchase of a new home in the neighborhood. Membership is subject to application approval.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the St. Rose Parkway exit and go west. Drive north on Southern Highlands Parkway and proceed to Stonewater Lane, then turn left and follow the signs.

The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Mondays when it opens at 1 p.m.
