Ridgebrook joins Summerlin park system
Ridgebrook Park is the newest addition to the many recreational opportunities in Summerlin. Central to the Ridgebrook minivillage, the park encompasses more than 6 acres and offers lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, picnic pavilion, playground and water play area. Ridgebrook Park meanders throughout the 105-acre minivillage. Parks are an integral part of the master-planned community, said Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin's developer. "Every Summerlin village has its own major park or golf course, along with numerous miniparks and open spaces," Van Epp said. "Ridgebrook Park is not only the centerpiece of the Ridgebrook village, it was designed to offer a variety of recreational amenities for residents of all ages and interests. The trail that runs through the park also provides an ideal route for walkers and runners. "Ridgebrook Park is ideally located near the mountains and Bear's Best Las Vegas golf course to the west. These views make spending time in Ridgebrook Park even more enjoyable." Ridgebrook is situated east of The Ridges, a golf course village on the hillside adjacent to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Neighborhoods in the community are SouthStar by R/S Development, featuring homes priced from the high $100,000s; Sunset Ridge and Echo Ridge by Pulte Homes, featuring homes priced from the high $100,000s and low $200,000s, respectively; and Granite Peaks by KB Home, featuring homes priced from the high $100,000s. Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community nine of the past 10 years, according to independent surveys. Situated along the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley, the community is being developed in villages and is home to eight golf courses; more than 100 parks; nearly 105 miles of trails; 17 schools, including the new Judy and John L. Goolsby Elementary School in Ridgebrook which is scheduled to open in fall 2004; houses of worship; shopping centers; medical facilities; cultural facilities; business parks and nearly 100 model homes. Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the high $300,000s to nearly $1 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $1.5 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s. To visit the community's home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive and turn north. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and head north. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
