Ed Revalee is delighted with the pool and spa he purchased from Renaissance Pools, which has a showroom on Boulder Highway.

Retired auto worker chooses pool, spa from Renaissance

Ed and Miriam Revalee of Henderson considered all types of pools before deciding on an in-ground, ceramic epoxy pool and spa by Renaissance Pools & Spas.
"We considered gunite and other types of in-ground pools, but upon doing careful research, we determined that the ceramic epoxy pools and spas sold by Renaissance were superior in every way," said Ed Revalee, who retired two years ago from his auto industry job in Indiana.
"I have been sold on Fiberglas products through years of driving Corvettes, so I also researched a few local companies that sell Fiberglas pools. When I became familiar with the ... combination of materials in these pools, I was particularly impressed. The pools are more durable, more attractive and much easier to maintain. In fact, I find that I am using a fraction of the chemicals that would be required for a gunite pool of comparable size. Also, the finish of the pool is smoother and virtually impervious to problems often associated with concrete pools."
The Revalees purchased a 30X14-foot pool plus a spa in a Blue Starfire finish. Revalee was impressed by the installation time.
"Our pool was completed and ready for swimming within a matter of weeks, as opposed to the many months it can take for a gunite pool," he said. "Also, the crew did a great job of both installing our pool and spa and cleaning up after themselves, which meant we didn't have the inconvenience of construction debris in our yard."
Since 1991, the company has been the exclusive Southern Nevada dealer of in-ground, ceramic epoxy pools built by Viking Pools Inc.
"We're proud to say that we have a 2A-1 credit rating as reported by Dun and Bradstreet, placing us at the very top in our particular business category nationwide," said Jim Alexander, president and owner of Renaissance Pools & Spas. "We're equally pleased to show our customers documents that demonstrate our excellent standing with the Nevada State Contractors Board. All of this givers our buyers the assurance that we are a financially sound company with the ability to stand behind our products and our promises."
The company has a civil engineer on staff to assist pool buyers in designing their pool areas and securing permits. The engineer also supervises subcontractors.
"These services are especially helpful to buyers who choose to handle their own pool installation, which results in a 40 percent discount off the price of a fully installed pool," Alexander said. "We also have instructional tapes and other technical support available for these buyers and interestingly, about 30 percent of our buyers choose to handle the installation themselves."
Prices for installed pools range from $12,495 to $24,500, and financing is available.
Buyers can choose from about 50 pool designs, ranging from 10X16 feet to 42-foot diving pools.
The company has an indoor and outdoor showroom at 1245 N. Boulder Highway, about a half mile south of Sunset Road.
