Rolladen Shutters fill niche for homeowners

     Janina Hartmann, a native of Germany, said Rolladen Rolling Shutters are part of life in Europe.
      "They're everywhere," Hartmann said. "Nobody can get into your home over there. I've never seen a home over there without them. They block out the noise and keep your power bills down."
      Hartmann and her mother, Maryanne, recently had the shutters installed on their home in Las Vegas.
      Fran Minnozzi, who operates the company's local franchise, introduced the product the Southern Nevada more than 15 years ago.
      "The people from Europe who move to Las Vegas are very happy to find us here," Minnozzi said. "Everything -- businesses and residential -- all have shutters in most of Europe. So when people move here, they immediately begin looking for the shutters."
      Minnozzi said many of her European customers are surprised to learn the shutters are not standard items with new homes.
      "They're quite surprised and disappointed, but they end up coming to us to have them installed after the home has been built," she said."
      Minnozzi is offering 50 percent off shutter installation through the end of October.
      The showroom at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd. is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
