Sun City Summerlin plans bash

Sun City Summerlin will celebrate Halloween next weekend with a ball in the community's Desert Vista Ballroom.
The Spooktacular Ball will feature costume contests and decorated treats. Prizes sponsored by a nearby supermarket will be awarded to contest winners.
"The residents here love to dance and be active," said Nicole Hayes, assistant programs director at the age-restricted community. "The dance should be a fun way for all of the Sun City Summerlin residents to celebrate Halloween."
According to Hayes, more than 300 residents are expected to join in the event and listen to big band tunes from the Dick Wright Band.
"It is guaranteed to be a full house at the Halloween Dance," Hayes said. "The dances are some of the most popular resident events at Sun City Summerlin."
The community has four community centers, which provide workout rooms, aerobic dance studios, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and boccie ball courts, and horseshoe pits. The centers also include rooms for woodworking, photography, painting, ceramics, quilting and model building.
With fewer than 175 homes available, the builder expects the development to reach closeout early next year.
The builder is also offering Sun City MacDonald Ranch in Henderson.
Its newest development, Anthem, opened for sales earlier this summer. The master-planned community is home to three developments: Anthem Country Club, a guard-gated, equity-owned golf course community; Sun City Anthem, an age-restricted community; and Coventry Homes at Anthem, which offers single-family homes.
To visit, take the U.S. 95 Expressway to Lake Mead Boulevard and head west, following the signs. The sales office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prices begin at $129,800, and the floor plans range from 1,183 to 2,895 square feet.
Del Webb Corp. is the builder of 12 Sun City developments nationwide, country club communities, and Coventry Homes neighborhoods throughout the Southwest.
