Sunridge at MacDonald Ranch will celebrate the start of construction of the first phase of its 19-acre Sports Park on Nov. 7.
A soccer field; tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; and playgrounds can be previewed at 11 a.m., followed by a soccer game between two championship local boys' teams. Festivities also will include prize drawings for tickets to University of Nevada, Las Vegas, soccer games.
The first phase of the park is scheduled for completion on Dec. 24. The second phase will feature ball fields for Little League and softball, and picnic areas. In the planning stage is Sunridge Canyon Park, which will have a trail system and picnic areas.
Developed by Rich MacDonald, Won Yoo and Mac and Frances MacDonald, Sunridge homes are priced from the low $100,000s to the low $200,000s.
"The goal at Sunridge at MacDonald Ranch is to guarantee its homeowners feel a sense of belonging to, and are proud to be a part of, their new community," Rich MacDonald said.
Sunridge neighborhoods are being developed by Lewis Homes, Capital Pacific Homes, D.R. Horton Homes, Concordia Homes, BR Homes and Richmond American Homes. There will be more than 1,500 homes at buildout.
Lewis offers the 45-acre Laurel Hills neighborhood, where homes range from 1,577 to 3,787 square feet with as many as six bedrooms. Prices start from $148,990.
Capital Pacific Homes' Crestmont offers four single- and two-story floor plans ranging from 1,764 to 2,921 square feet with as many as five bedrooms. Prices start from the mid-$100,000s.
Montana Estates by D.R. Horton is a neighborhood of single-story homes priced from $119,900. Five floor plans range from 1,950 to 2,300 square feet. The builder also is selling homes at Montana Manor, where floor plans range to 1,890 square feet with four bedrooms. Prices start from $119,900.
Concordia Homes' Classic Collection floor plans range from 1,522 to 2,694 square feet, with as many as five bedrooms and three baths. Homes are priced from $127,990.
Neighborhoods built by BR Homes and Richmond American Homes are completed.
A golf course is planned, as are 725 acres of parks, open space areas and trail systems. Plans also include a desert wildlife preservation area, an amphitheater and a Museum of Ancient History built into the side of Black Mountain.
Two private schools are slated to open next year. Hillcrest Academy will offer classes from preschool through fifth grade; and Warren Walker, which recently acquired 28 acres, will offer sixth through eighth grades with ninth through twelfth grades planned. Land was donated by the developers for the Frank Lamping Elementary School, a public facility that opened this year.
MacDonald Ranch, a 3,210-acre community, will comprise nearly 8,000 homes in four developments at buildout. In addition to Sunridge, it is home to Sun City MacDonald Ranch, MacDonald Ranch Country Club and Village IV.
Homeowners association fees are less than $20 a month, according to MacDonald.
To visit, take Lake Mead Drive to Eastern Avenue and go south, following the signs. The sales offices and model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
